Kiswah (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the Kiswah mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the App.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- AI Chat Messages: When you use the AI Companion feature, your messages are sent to our server to generate responses. We do not store your conversation history on our servers; messages are processed in real time and discarded after the response is delivered.
Information Collected Automatically
- Location Data:With your permission, we access your device's approximate location to calculate accurate prayer times and Qibla direction. Location data is sent to the Aladhan API (a third-party prayer time service) and is not stored on our servers.
- Usage Analytics: We use PostHog to collect anonymized usage analytics (e.g., feature usage, crash reports) to improve the App. No personally identifiable information is sent to PostHog.
- Device Storage (UserDefaults): We store preferences (prayer calculation method, onboarding state, streak data, daily AI usage count) locally on your device using UserDefaults and SwiftData. This data never leaves your device except as described below.
Information from Third-Party Services
- RevenueCat: We use RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions. RevenueCat may collect anonymous transaction identifiers provided by Apple. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
- Supabase: We use Supabase for anonymous authentication and to host our AI chat edge function. An anonymous session identifier is created on your device; no personal data (name, email, etc.) is collected.
- Apple Screen Time API:The Salah Lock feature uses Apple's Screen Time / Family Controls API. This API is privacy-preserving by design — Kiswah cannot see which apps you use, how long you use them, or any personal activity data. We only send opaque app tokens to Apple's framework to apply and remove app restrictions.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above solely to:
- Provide accurate prayer times and Qibla direction based on your location.
- Power the AI Companion feature by forwarding your messages to our AI processing service.
- Track your prayer streak progress locally on your device.
- Manage your subscription status.
- Improve the App through anonymized analytics.
- Send local prayer-time notifications (with your permission).
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only with the following third-party services as necessary to operate the App:

4. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer
The AI Companion feature provides responses generated by artificial intelligence. These responses are for informational purposes only and should not be considered authoritative Islamic rulings. Always consult a qualified scholar for religious guidance. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of AI-generated content.
5. Data Retention
- Chat messages are processed in real time and are not stored on our servers.
- Local data (preferences, streaks, cached prayer times) remains on your device until you delete the App.
- Analytics data is retained by PostHog in anonymized form per their retention policies.
- Subscription data is retained by RevenueCat per their retention policies.
6. Data Security
We employ industry-standard measures to protect your data in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access, correct, or delete your personal data.
- Withdraw consent for location access or notifications via your device's Settings.
- Opt out of analytics by contacting us.
Since most data is stored locally on your device, deleting the App removes the majority of your data.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the “Last Updated” date above and, where appropriate, through an in-app notice.
